Rural NGOs Study Sustainable Development
Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan – Today marked the closing of the training “Sustainable Development for Public Organizations” for rural NGOs and initiative groups, held June 17-19, 2015 in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The training was held with the support of the NGO Expert Center at Almaty Management University (ALMA University) and the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA), as part of the “Initiative for NGO Expert Development” implemented in partnership with Chevron in Kazakhstan.
Training participants included representatives of rural NGOs and initiative groups, who learned new skills for working in the public sector and improving the institutional capacity of public organizations. The training addressed such issues as:
- specifics of the ‘third sector’
- organizational planning
- development of project proposals
“During the course of the three-day training, Sustainable Development for Public Organizations, we gained both theoretical and practical information which we can use in our work with NGOs. This new knowledge will help our organization to develop and implement new projects. I believe that these trainings are not only useful for new NGOs, but also for those NGOs which have been around for a long time but can’t seem to progress further. We are very grateful to the organizers of the training and to the trainers, Munira Abulova and Nadezhda Safonava, for their work,” said Gulnar Zhuankhankyzi Toksanbayeva of public association “Zhanshuaktai”.
EFCA’s project “Initiative for NGO Expert Development” aims to strengthen the NGO sector by improving the institutional capacity of organizations to deliver quality services to the public. A key priority for the project is to strengthen NGO experts by increasing the quality of trainings for trainers and NGOs leaders.
