Trainings for Public service centers employees were held in Turkestan and Saryagash

On April 3rd-4th in Turkestan in the South Kazakhstan oblast, a technical meeting took place during which the results of a sociological study "Studying equal access to public services for people with disabilities in remote settlements of  Shelek region" conducted by the Almaty Center for the Study of Public Opinion were presented. Then a two-day training was held for professionals providing public services.

Within the framework of the training seminar for professionals providing public services, such problems as work ethics, specifics of working with people with disabilities, and proper ways of serving clients with disabilities were presented.

"We have learned a lot. The seminar-training was lively and practical," - says Gulzada, participant of the training.

"Using games, exercises, and homework, we were able to better understand the difficulties and problems experienced by the people with disabilities, now we understand them better", - shares one of the employees of the Public service center Turali.

The participants of the meeting were told about the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the transition from social protection to the creation of equal opportunities. The main principles of providing public services for people with disabilities and ways of interaction between state bodies and civil society for improving the provision of public services were discussed using the example of the "Public service centers" department branch in Almaty oblast and Corporate Foundation "Yerekshe Tandau-Shelek".

"We were the ones to create models of future institutions for providing public services for people with disabilities. Now, we can raise the issue of making services more accessible in our own districts”, - added another participant of the seminar Yerzhan.

After Turkestan, the seminar "Public services - accessible to all" was held in the city of Saryagash in the South Kazakhstan oblast. Here the seminar was attended by document reception specialists of the Public Service Centers from Ordubasy, Maktaaral, Sayram, Tolebi districts of the South Kazakhstan oblast. 16 people in total.

"I really liked the training. I would like to see such trainings more often so that people with disabilities could receive barrier-free access to public services," -  the head of the sector of  Ordabasy district department of employment and social programs H.Akmolda summed up.
