Press conference on the theme: "Equal access to public services of residents with disabilities: Myth or reality?"

Almaty, Kazakhstan - May 31, 2016 at 12:00 hours, in the IC Kazakhstan Press Club (Almaty, md Samal-2, house 58, BC "Sәttі" 7th floor), the Fund "EREKSHE TANDAU-SHELEK" within the USAID program "Initiative in support of effective management" holds a press conference on the theme: "Equal access to public services of residents with disabilities: Myth or reality?" (on the example of Shelek region).

In February-March 2016, sociological research on the subject of public services access of residents with disabilities from remote settlements in Shelek region was conducted. The results revealed a number of difficulties that prevent residents with disabilities receive public services on an equal basis with other residents who do not have disabilities. What are these challenges? What do the experts say on the matter? What is the possible mechanism of interaction between public authorities and organizations of people with disabilities to address these challenges? The following experts will participate in the press conference:

Aibek Ilebaev, Maslikhat Deputy of the Enbekshikazakh district;

Aisina Kaldykul Ospanalievna, Head of the Government institution "The department of employment and social programs of Enbekshikazakh district" (the city of Esyk);

Samat Imangaliev, Head of the Department "Citizen Service Center branch of the NAO "State corporation "Government for Citizens" in Almaty region (Taldykorgan);

Gulzhan Alimbekova, Public Opinion Research Center (Almaty);

Zahira Begaliyeva, coordinator of the project "Access to public services of persons with disabilities in Shelek region";
