Human rights NGOs increase sustainability

On 25-27 April in Almaty a training was held for representatives of NGOs involved in human rights activities. The training was organized by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia within the framework of the project "Initiative for sustainability of human rights NGOs", implemented with the support of the Netherlands Embassy.

The participants of the training were human rights NGOs from all regions of Kazakhstan, who want to strengthen their sustainability and are looking for effective ways of financial development.

The trainers were the expert on the human rights from Russia, Chairman of the NGO "Civil Control", Elena Shakhova, trainer and consultant Galym Zhukupbaev, as well as EFCA staff: Executive Director Rinad Temirbekov, head of the research and development programs Irina Naydenova, manager of the research and development programs department Indira Aitbai.

The first day of training was devoted to sustainability and organizational development. Participants learned about the basic aspects of organizational development and discussed tools and plan for further cooperation and monitoring the implementation of individual development plans.

On the second day of the event participants discussed development strategy of human rights NGOs in conditions of risk, considering the possibility of PR and attraction of resources. The expert and human rights activist Elena Shakhova told about the legal situation and activities of human rights NGOs in Russia, who are engaged in social entrepreneurship.

On the final day of the training participants examined the topic of social entrepreneurship. NGO representatives learned about the possibilities of social entrepreneurship development in their respective organizations, talked about the psychology and thinking of businessmen, considered methods of generating business ideas, discussed the structure of writing a business plan for social enterprise.

"Participants agreed that the training was full of new and useful information about the possibility of the development of social entrepreneurship in their organizations. Business psychology and business strategy for the selection of business ideas were positively evaluated, - says the EFCA project manager Alma Sholpankulova. - By the end of the project we hope to come up with real results. "

The participants went home inspired by new ideas with their homework and willingness to continue training in the framework of the project.

"Not all training are interesting and have results. This time charisma and professionalism of our trainers, Rinad Temirbekov and Galym Zhukupbaev, attracted the audience even after training, people did not want to leave. They presented topics interestingly, clearly, with real case studies using interesting tools and techniques of facilitation. It was a truly effective training ", - shares her impressions Aigul Dyusenova, a participant of the training from the Association of NGOs of Aktobe region.
