Heads of institutions in Pavlodar learned about inclusive design and adaptation of buildings for PwDs

Тhe TANDAU Public Foundation held 12 trainings in Pavlodar on "Inclusive design: design, construction, adaptation." The events were organized under the USAID Good Governance Initiative Fund and were held almost every day in November.

The participants of the training were advisors to district akims on affairs of people with disabilities, specialists of the employment and social programs departments, the Center for the Development of Youth Initiatives, heads of cultural institutions, representatives of schools in Aksu and Ekibastuz, heads of colleges, boarding schools, preschool institutions, institutions of public health, sports and physical education, departments of architecture and town planning; employees of housing and communal services, members of regional and territorial groups of public control to check the availability of facilities for people with disabilities, and students of the Innovative Eurasian University.

The training program consisted of an analysis of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the organization of a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities and other low-mobility groups, and a study of the main regulatory dimensions of the functional zones of social infrastructure facilities.

According to one of the heads of the pre-school education institution, "after the training, he is ready to study the SNIPs and will try to bring, if possible, the construction of special equipment to the standard."

After the cycle of trainings in the Pavlodar Friendship House on December 4, the final event - a seminar on "Inclusive design: public services, urban environment, overcoming stigma" was held. The speakers of the meeting were Veniamin Alayev, Chairman of the Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and Zahira Begalieva, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Education on Persons with Disabilities, and the Project Coordinator USAID / Public Utilities for Everyone.
