For all competitors!

On July 20, 2015, the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia announced the launch of the second round of the grant competition of the Initiative to Support Good Governance in Kazakhstan. This project covers all 14 regions of the republic.

Concept/project idea acceptance lasted until September 4. 154 applications were submitted. Among the participants, there are public organizations, charitable foundations, non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, and budgetary institutions.

The aim of this project is to promote initiatives in the field of effective institutional public administration through the promotion of systematic interaction between civil society organizations and government bodies, which will lead to the long-term improvement of specific public services, elements of the legal framework or policies, mechanisms, and processes of public administration.

As we stated earlier, in the second cycle of the project, special attention will be paid to:

  • The achievement of effective public administration in any field (IEEP);

  • The achievement of effective public administration in the healthcare sphere; and

  • The achievement of effective public administration in problem-solving related to individuals with disabilities

Figure 1 shows a diagram of the distribution of registered applications by their focus.

Applications came from all of the regions of Kazakhstan. The number of requests received by regions in percentage terms is as follows (see Figure 2):

At the second qualifying stage, 51 out of 154 applications passed. Only the strongest applications will receive a grant, which will still have to be presented to the members of the grant committee, who must be convinced that the project idea is innovative, effective, and necessary for citizens of our country.

We strongly recommend that each contest participant checks his/her email to find out whether their application has passed the first qualifying round.

Also, we would like to remind all participants that EFCA does not take part in the evaluation of project proposals. Each application will be evaluated by the members of the grant committee.
