Almaty hosted the workshop for NGOs to clarify main points of the laws of Republic of Kazakhstan “On Access to Information” and “On Public Councils”
During the workshop participants will be presented two new laws of Republic of Kazakhstan “On Access to Information” and “On Public Councils”. The workshop will be dedicated to a review of forming principles of the transparent government, budget transparency and implementation of anticorruption reforms, actions increasing government accountability; rights and duties of information owners and users; means of publicizing information on information owners’ activities, including provision of requested information; functions and competences of Committee on access to information; status of public council and regulations on its forming; forms and procedures of public control and others.
The workshop was organized for representatives of NGO - members of “Equal before the Law” network, working in four regions of South Kazakhstan (South Kazakhstan, Almaty, Kyzylorda and Zhambyl oblasts). The workshop will be conducted by Tatyana Zinovich, deputy director of the Legal Policy Research Centre and Gulmira Kuzhukeyeva, legal consultant of the International Centre for Not-for-Profit Law.
“The law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Access to Information” gave additional opportunities to civil society for access, analysis and use of any open information, owned by the public sector, -said the trainer Tatyna Zinovich. – We are encouraging all representatives of non-governmental sector, active citizens to use these resources to promote and develop human rights”.
“The information given during this seminar is tightly connected with NGOs’ work, since this information is relevant to our work. The trainers provided us with instruments essential for efficient interactions with governmental sector”, -highlights Sabina Ibraimova, the project coordinator, PF “Center of social and psychological rehabilitation and adaptation for women and children “Rodnik”.
