The USAID "Good Governance Initiative Fund" program supported the idea of implementing an integrated model of special social services (SSS) for the prevention of child abandonment. The project "Child in the family" on the prevention of social orphanhood was implemented by the representative office of the international charity public Fund "Children of Chernobyl and the Aral sea" in Kyzylorda with the aim of implementing an integrated model of providing SSU for the prevention of abandonment of a child aged 0 to 3 years. In the course of the project was implemented an integrated model of SSU for the prevention of child abandonment, prevention of social orphanhood, was established multidisciplinary team (MDT) for the provision of SSU, was approved by the algorithm of actions on the basis of the 7 public health institutions of Kyzylorda, was tested a pilot model for the provision of SSU, all the involved professionals were trained. For the entire period of the project:
- 12 women changed their decision to abandon the child, they were accompanied by a mobile group (MG);
– of the 38 received signals, registered with the MG, in 25 cases it was agreed to keep the baby in the family, accounting for 65.8 percent of the total number of received signals.
Specialists of the failure prevention Service of the city perinatal center of Kyzylorda: "Due to the project, some unsystematic measures to provide support have given way to systematic work, so that mothers have the opportunity to receive real help and further support. This was achieved through the implementation of advocacy activities and the organization of social partnership."
The effectiveness of the project is also confirmed by the fact that in 25 cases out of 38, cases of abandonment of children were prevented. The maintenance of the child in a state institution together with the formation of the state to cost $ 4 300 (1 500 000 tenge) per year. The economic effect of the project is about 37 500 000 tenge (25 children left in families).
At the end of 2015, following the results of the regional competition of social projects of public organizations providing services to people with special needs, of "Children of Chernobyl and the Aral" was recognized as the organization implementing the best socially significant project and awarded a certificate of the regional akimat.
