USAID endorsed the idea of developing a mobile application
USAID’s “Governance Governance Initiative Fund” endorsed the ”My Deputy” project of the “Temirtau Youth Union” (City of Temirtau) public youth movement.
The project is focused on creating institutional interaction between elected officials and voters in order to solve the problems of local communities and protect citizens’ interests.
The development and launch of the mobile application took six months, and a great deal of work was carried out over that time period:
- The “My Deputy” website and mobile multi-platform application was created;
- Meetings were held with deputies of the maslikhats of the Karaganda region, with popular MPs
of the Republic of Kazakhstan, public figures, and active leaders of regional NGOs in
attendance. The total number of elected officials who attended these meetings numbered over 200, of which 101 were maslikhats;
- Opportunities to demonstrate the results of elected officials’ activity were expanded with the creation of personal information pages on www.mdeputat.kz;
- The MFA and the CEC of the RK have officially endorsed this project, and an international presentation of the project was delivered to the members of the National Human Rights Council (CSR) and 22 OSCE ambassadors as one of the most promising democratic practices in Kazakhstan; and
-An official decision was taken to include the application in the primaries of elected officials representing the “Nur Otan” party; further, an initiative was carried out in order to include working with the application as a requirement to all elected officials representing the various political parties of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The “My Deputy” project plays an important role for the interaction of civil society and elected officials — and, in this respect, has no analogue.
"We have over 3,200 elected officials, over 27,000 NGOs — and now, there is an interactive platform and opportunity for these parts of civil society to interact", - said the president of the Citizens’ Alliance of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Erumbetov.
