Zhadyrassyn ZHUMAGAZIEVA, “Aygolek” kindergarten
“Growing together!” Initiative on Improving Early Childhood Education started in Kuryk village, Mangistau oblast in 2013. Apart from improving kindergarten administration and teachers’ qualifications and developing positive relationship with parents, the program aimed at introducing modern teaching methods that would engage every child in active learning.
“Aygolek” kindergarten joined the Initiative in 2014 and Zhadyrassyn ZHUMAGAZIEVA was the first teacher to apply for Montessori training program. She was given 4 trainings on introductory and basic principles of Montessori method in Kuryk; as well she participated in a study tour to the best and oldest Montessori center in Kazakhstan. Montessori experts helped Zhadyrassyn to develop special development environment in Montessori class and through series of monitoring and demonstrational lessons made timely adjustments to her performance.
Zhadyrassyn fully embraced Montessori and was the first teacher that started considering herself as Montessori teacher and the first teacher to run Montessori class. Today she is the most experienced Montessori teacher in Kuryk and in the region. Montessori experts recognized her as the “Best Montessori Teacher” among teachers in 4 kindergartens that participate in the program. Montessori teachers in other kindergartens seek her advice and view on challenges they face in Montessori class. As well she is invited to other kindergarten to show demonstrational classes.
Now Montessori lessons supplement state education program (adapted to Step by Step technology) and host 30 children in “Aygolek” kindergarten. Zhadyrassyn already received positive feedback from parents. Montessori experts admit that during monitoring children showed motivation to learn, they are not afraid to make a mistake, ability to make choice, respect other students’ space and work, patience, ability to concentrate and challenge themselves, accepting and following rules.
