People with disabilities learned to manage emotions at a training in Pavlodar
The USAID / GGIF project "Accessible Pavlodar" on the basis of the regional office of coordination of employment and social programs held a training "Emotion Management" on August 5. Partnership, relationships with officials and employees of non-governmental organizations that provide services to people with disabilities, and many other circumstances require the ability to act with confidence, to insist on their own, not to depend on external influences and assessments, to independently regulate their own behavior and be responsible for it.
People with disabilities, their relatives, NGOs became participants in the training (10 people).
The coach was the psychologist of the medical center of psychotherapy and psychological support of Dr. Rossinsky Stanislav Pavlenko.
The purpose of the training: training in emotional control, management of their own condition, regulation of their emotional state, the ability to make informed decisions, to defend their legitimate rights and interests.
"The main objective of the training is the formulation of behavioral skills. Skills and abilities formed in artificially created "safe" conditions of psychological training will help participants to overcome difficulties in real life. To do this, we used special exercises that simulate different life situations. Performing a variety of exercises, participants were able to discover how to perceive themselves and life around them differently, how to change their own behavior to achieve the desired results," - shared coach-psychologist Stanislav Pavlenko.
During the training, the following methods were used: determining the functional purpose of emotions, the flexibility of expressing emotional reaction, training, and selection of appropriate emotional reactions for specific situations.
The discussion touched upon issues such as emotions – what they are, why do we need a person; the structure and experience of emotional reaction; functional characteristics of the main emotions; change and choice of emotions; emotions and behavior. The training was held in an interactive format.
"I am interested in psychology, I read psychology books. But meeting with an attentive, friendly and all-explaining coach helps to understand the theoretical material that I can learn at home. It is good that there are thoroughly discussed "live sessions" and analysis of various situations in our lives. After the first training, we walked along the embankment and faced with different situations, immediately trying to determine if it’s a problem or a difficulty? It was very interesting to master the knowledge gained during the training in this way! Thank you for organizing the trainings; it would be good to meet once a week," said Natasha Nondeova, a participant of the training.
The project "Accessible Pavlodar " is implemented within the framework of the " Good Governance Initiative Fund " of the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
