Leading groups to protect the rights of methadone recipients
Public Foundation “Aman-saulyk” hosted several meetings to launch Leading groups for protecting the rights of those who receive methadone as a substitute therapy. Meetings were held within the USAID project “Good Governance Initiative Fund”.
“Aman-saulyk” team met patients and their relatives in Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semei, Ekibastuz, Pavlodar.
“The aim of my visit is to share with you full information about substitution therapy, to create a leading group that will protect the rights of methadone recipients. The program is realized in 10 cities of Kazakhstan, the number of patients grew up to 290 people. We are aiming not to increase the number of patients but to do our best for their rehabilitation and socialization”, - said Bakhyt Tumenova, the head of “Aman-saulyk”.
She also mentioned that beneficiaries will write their own stories about the importance and benefits of the substitution therapy program. Materials will be further forwarded to the parliament hearings to be held in November.
“Aman-saulyk” will host similar meetings in Uralsk, Taras, Karaganda and Temirtau.
